When doing some baseball history research, I was surprised to learn the Philadelphia Phillies, who have been around, first as the Philadelphia Quakers since 1883, have only one World Series Championship, won in 1980. Still, with the way things look right now, and with the Rays unable to consistently pitch, field, and hit (Longoria and Pena are 0-for the World Series), I think Philly makes it two championships starting tomorrow night, with Cole Hamels on the mound in a ballpark they haven’t lost a single postseason game in yet in 2008. The Phillies are starting to hit, and Ryan Howard, with 5 RBI and two homers on the night, looks ready to carry this team to its first title since 1980. Blanton was superb, with a homer of his own tonight. It looks like it’s the Phillies time to shine, and I fully expect a celebration tomorrow night in the City of Brotherly Love. I’ve never been to Philly myself, but I am a big fan of ‘Rocky.’ From what I’m told, he is a kind of sports ‘franchise’ if you will in Philadelphia. That’s really something for being a fictional character. As for the Phillies, I would be happy for them if they win. I would have been happy for the Rays if they won. Both teams haven’t been here much, and the Rays not at all. We shall see what goes tomorrow night.
